The Foundation awards each of  the two highest scoring applicants (called the Barr Scholar and the Rinderhagen Scholar) a $2000 scholarship.  Read more about these benefactors on the VIP page.  The top 10% of the scorers (less the Barr & Rinderhagen Scholars) are given $1500.  $1000 scholarships are awarded to the balance of the successful undergraduate applicants. 

To be eligible, the applicant applying for the FIRST TIME must be:

A U.S. Citizen.

A Washington State Resident.

An entering Third year (Junior), Fourth year (Senior) or (if required for degree) Fifth year undergraduate (5th year requirement must be verified by college/university).

Attending an accredited  4 year college or university in the State of Washington as a full time student for the full academic year.  Please Note:  Distance Learning and/or on-line classes will not be considered when determining your full time status.

Maintaining a college level GPA (or equivalent) of at least 3.0.

Applications for the 2005-06 year will be accepted starting November, 2004  Please Note:  An interview with the Director is held when you pick up the application.  You may schedule this during your Winter break and then accumulate the materials to be turned in no later than March 31.

Deadline for 2005-06 applications is March 31, 2006

Applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance by the first of June, 2005.
Interested students should contact the  Director of the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation  in the area of his/her  home address for further information and application. If you are attending a college some distance from your home area (such as attending school in Seattle, home area is Spokane), you may contact a Director in the area closest to your school.  They will be happy to help you.  (See "How It Works" on the Noteworthy News page)

Many of the common questions asked by new applicants, with their answers, can be found on the FAQs page. If you are an entering Freshman or Sophomore, check with your local Masonic organization.  Many of them offer scholarships that may apply.

Renewal Opportunity

Many students are eligible for a renewal scholarship.  These awards are $1000 each.  Eligible students may receive one renewal.  In addition to being a U.S. Citizen, a Washington State Resident and attending an accredited 4 year college or university in the State of Washington as a full time student for the full academic year,

The student must have received a Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation scholarship for the previous academic year

The student is generally entering their  Fourth year (Senior) or Fifth year (if 5th year required for an undergraduate degree, must be verified by college/university).

Attending an accredited 4 year college or university in the State of Washington as a full time student for the full academic year.  Please Note:  Distance Learning and/or on-line classes will not be considered when determining your full time status.

The student  has maintained a college level GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent) during their initial scholarship year

Interested students should contact the  Director of the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation  in the area of their home address for further information and application. (See note above regarding attending a school far from home)

Failure to sign the application, furnish all required materials, including your permanent Washington address, transcripts indicating a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or equivalent, three letters of recommendation (properly addressed, dated and signed), your personal goal statement as well as all materials mailed and/or delivered to the appropriate Director/Asst. Director by the deadline date WILL DISQUALIFY you. 

The Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington reserves the right to disqualify applicant(s) from any scholarship consideration, and the award of every scholarship is in the sole discretion of the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington. If in the opinion of the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington, the applicant(s) fails to complete the application, such application will be automatically disqualified for any scholarship consideration
